JamWise

Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 20, 2026

Overview

JamWise ("we," "us," or "our") is an educational music platform for K-8 students, teachers, and parents. We take privacy seriously — especially when children are involved. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

JamWise complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

  • Children access JamWise through teacher-managed classrooms or parent-managed family accounts — never directly.
  • We do not require children to provide personal information to use our educational content.
  • Student engagement data (e.g., which jams were watched, quiz scores) is visible only to the child's teacher or parent.
  • We never display advertising to children or use children's data for marketing.
  • Parents can review, delete, or request a copy of their child's data at any time by emailing privacy@jamwise.app.

What We Collect

Waitlist Signups

When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address, role (teacher or parent), and optionally your grade level. This data is stored securely with our email provider (Resend) and used solely to notify you when JamWise launches.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and role. For school accounts, we may also collect your school name and district.

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage data to improve the product — which jams are played, completion rates, and feature usage. This data is never sold and is used only to make JamWise better.

Payment Information

Premium and School plan payments are processed by Stripe. We never store credit card numbers on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve the JamWise service
  • To send you product updates and launch notifications (waitlist)
  • To provide engagement reports to teachers and parents
  • To respond to support requests
  • To ensure platform safety and prevent abuse

We never sell personal data to third parties. We never use student data for advertising. We never build marketing profiles from children's activity.

Third-Party Services

We use a limited set of trusted third-party services:

  • Resend — Email delivery (waitlist notifications, account emails)
  • Stripe — Payment processing (Premium and School plans)
  • Cloudflare — Content delivery and asset storage
  • PostHog — Anonymous product analytics and error monitoring (no personal data shared)

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising-related tracking on JamWise.

Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated usage data (e.g., "500 teachers played science jams this week") may be retained indefinitely.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), secure password hashing, and access controls. Our database is hosted on secure infrastructure with automatic backups.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of non-essential emails at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@jamwise.app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or with a prominent notice on our website. Your continued use of JamWise after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
